Pouf Salt & Pepper
Functionality and Reuse
Seating, beyond offering comfort, can play a crucial role in optimizing and organizing domestic spaces. This idea inspired the "Salt and Pepper" project: two poufs that not only provide functionality but also serve as an interesting example of creative material reuse, giving them a new life.
The bases of these poufs are made from sterilized paint cans, which have been powder-coated in black and white. The original handles of the cans have been retained, providing a practical feature for moving the pieces around the house. The seat, soft and comfortable, is made from padded plywood, upholstered in eco-leather, and decorated with capitonné-style buttons, adding a touch of elegance to the design.
These poufs, designed for all ages, have been specifically customized for children, making them ideal for a playroom or living area. Each can has been graphically transformed with the addition of playful faces: one with curly hair and the other with straight hair, along with the words "sale" (salt) and "pepe" (pepper) to match their respective colors. These details, designed, laser-cut on adhesive, and applied across the entire surface, add a playful and original touch.
The poufs were produced by Modulor, with the capitonné work by Colombo Tappezziere and the adhesives by Sommariva Giulio. They were presented at the Fuorisalone del Mobile in 2014.
