Le Costellazioni del Cielo Boreale

Ho voluto dedicare una sezione separata a questo progetto personale, sviluppato a coronamento del precedente. Questo elaborato sulle Costellazioni del Cielo Boreale nasce da una grande passione per le stelle e l’astronomia, ma anche per i miti del passato: ci sono tante storie che illuminano le nostre notti ed è un peccato che la gente non le conosca e non sia più abituata ad alzare lo sguardo al cielo. Ne abbiamo scelte 22 del Cielo Boreale, senza tener conto delle costellazioni zodiacali che si trovano sull’eclittica, per dare spazio a quelle meno note ma altrettanto interessanti. Nel grande Tableau de Mariage si ritrovano tutte le costellazioni di questa porzione di cielo ridisegnate in vettoriale con il mio stile grafico e, per ogni singola stella, è stata mantenuta la sua posizione esatta nel cielo.

I want to dedicate a separate section to this personal project, developed of a culmination of the previous. This artworks on the Northern Sky Constellations comes from a deep passion for stars and astronomy, but also for the myths of the past: there are many stories that brights our nights and it’s a shame that people don’t know them and is no longer used to look up to the sky. We have selected 22 without taking the zodiacal constellations that lie on the ecliptic for give space to the less known but equally interesting. In the large Tableau de Mariage gather all the constellations of this portion of the sky, I redesigned them in vector with my graphic style, maintaining the exact position of each stars in the sky.

Le 22 Tavole hanno, sul fronte, il disegno della costellazione con le sue stelle principali e, sul retro, un testo che narra sia il mito della costellazione che l’analisi astrofisica di quella parte di cielo. I nomi di ogni costellazione e i titoli sono stati scritti a mano, poi scannerizzati e tracciati. Tutti i testi sono frutto di una lunga ricerca, di molto aiuto è stato il libro: “Notte di Stelle“scritto da Viviano Domenici e Margherita Hack ed edito da Sperling & Kupfer, che consiglio vivamente di leggere 🙂

The 22 drawings have, on the front, the design of costellation with its main stars and, in the back, a text that tells the myth of the constellation and the astrophysical analysis of that part of the sky. The Lettering of the titles is handmade with brushpen and then vectorialized. All texts are the result of a long research, I found a lot of help in the book: “Night of Stars” written by Viviano Domenici and Margherita Hack and published by Sperling & Kupfer, which I highly recommend to read 🙂

L’idea di progetto era una delicata metafora tra le stelle e i nostri ospiti: volevamo collegare le 22 costellazioni dei nostri tavoli, con le vere stelle sopra le nostre teste. Per questo ogni cartoncino con le costellazioni, posto al centro del tavolo e il Tableu di Mariage ha una caratteristica fondamentale: tutte le singole stelle sono state ripassate con una vernice luminescente. La speranza era, nel buio della notte, di vedere entrambe le costellazioni, quelle in cielo e quelle “in terra” brillare all’unisono. Peccato che non sempre le condizioni per la riuscita di un progetto si verifichino…in questo caso il meteo non è stato a nostro favore. Ora il Tableau è posto dietro il nostro letto e ogni notte abbiamo la possibilità di avere una piccola-grande porzione di cielo all’interno della nostra camera.

The Concept of the project was a delicate metaphor among the stars and the wedding guests. For that the Tableau and each centerpiece have a essential characteristic: all the stars were retraced with a luminescent paint. The hope was, in the dark of the night, to see both constellations, those in the sky and those “on the ground” shining in unison. Is too bad that all the conditions for the success of a project, not always occur … in this case the weather wasn’t in our favor. Now the Tableau is placed behind our bed and every night we have the opportunity to have a small-large portion of the sky inside our room.
